In 1987, Congress passed the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act to aid homeless persons.  The Act defines the term “homeless children and youths” as individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.  On October 1, 2016, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was enacted, amending McKinney-Vento.

The below presentation link is intended to provide information about the guidelines and responsibilities that the Antietam School District follows, surrounding homelessness. Please contact Jen Reeves, jreeves@antietamsd.org, Antietam liaison, if you have any questions or concerns.
